WHAT IT IS: These photographs
straddle the line between Impressionism and Abstract Impressionism and are created in-camera without the heavy-handed use of software filters or image compositing.
They have an Impressionist style that comes from a digital camera's
unique controls used to create an image that often goes beyond reality. These
images resulted from a progressive experimentation
with digital cameras to develop a technique that does not use typical software manipulations
or texture screens to produce Impressionist imagery. The photographs are somewhat eclectic in design and subject matter, but they fit into a wide interpretation of
the Impressionist style of visual art.
PHILOSOPHY: I believe that an Impressionistic approach to photography can reveal inner feelings that traditional photographs
usually do not produce. I use softened and blurred renderings of the image, along with other digital camera controls to enhance the emotional character of the subject while not destroying the
integrity of the original photographic process.
