LEARN TO PLAY THE DRUMS NATURALLY I use a natural approach to teaching drums. I begin with rhythms and beats as soon as the student can hold the sticks properly. I teach a universal method that will fit any genre of music -- then I teach the unique rhythms of the genre the student wants to play. |
DON O. THORPE has played the drums professionally for many styles of music and in many locales. He has had extensive experience in Rock, Jazz, Blues, Swing, Country, and Pop. He has been a manager of Jack's Drum Shop, and taught drum lessons there, as well as being a working musician for many years. LESSONS APPROACH I structure my teaching approach so that the student can be versatile. For that reason my lessons will cover Rock, Jazz, Blues, Swing, Country and Pop, as well as Latin rhythms, and developing technique, improvisation and Reading. |
