This is a Mixed-Media Photo Impressionist Exhibit
of the State of Maine by Don
O. Thorpe.
Maine is one
of my ancestral homes. My great grandfather had roots there. And all of my
ancestors on my mother's side come from New England. So it is not surprising
that I feel an infinity to the North East of America.
I have found that the special techniques of modern Impressionism reveal the
true nature of the photographs that represent my heritage and emotional
connections – some of these special effects are digital enhancements and some are
actually camera created. I find that the colors and textures of
Impressionism most accurately represent what I saw and felt about Maine.
The subject matter is somewhat diverse as is
the design and composition of the images, but they all seem to fit into a
broad interpretation of an Impressionist and a mixed-media approach to visual
art.
