These patriotic photographs were taken in France in 1983 during the 200th anniversary of the 1783 Treaty of Versailles which recognized the United States of America as an independent sovereign nation among nations.
I was fortunate to be one of only several photographers allowed in the courtyard of the palace of Versailles during the official ceremony. This is the first time some of these photographs have been shown in public as well as on the Internet.
PHILOSOPHY: I believe that an Impressionistic approach to photography can reveal inner feelings that traditional photographs
usually do not produce. I use softened and blurred renderings of the image, along with other digital camera controls to enhance the emotional character of the subject while not destroying the
integrity of the original photographic process.
