PROVENCE

Photographing French Provence is always a pleasure because of the special lighting that exists in Provence and the casual character of the people and villages there. By using an Impressionist style I have tried to reflect the gentle feeling of Provence, and capture its wonderful colors.  Impressionism has also allowed me to express my true feelings about old Provence, while at the same time, allowing me to reveal some of its modern world attributes.

 Before I started using Impressionist techniques, I was always disappointed by the lack of vitality and emotional color of my photographs of Provence. There seemed to be something missing. Perhaps it was the inability to translate what is in the mind and heart with a traditional photographic image. However, when I began using digital processes to modify and embellish the images captured with the camera, I began seeing a wonderful change in the photographs I produced. It was exciting to see previously rejected photos come back to life and echo what I had seen in my heart in the first place.
