These photographs portray the unique red-rock of Southern Utah with an Impressionist feeling. Using digital techniques, I have enhanced these photographs to reflect the impressions I felt at the time of exposure, or that come to me later as I contemplate the images. I still see myself as a natural photographer, and I usually do not use digital techniques to distort or destroy the original image captured by the camera. I only use the software to enhance the original intent of my visualization. I believe that an Impressionistic approach to photography can reveal inner feelings that traditional photographs usually do not
produce. I use softened and blurred renderings of the image, along with other digital camera controls to enhance the emotional character of the subject while not destroying the integrity of the
photographic process. Sometimes my images may seem to have more emotional reality than visual reality, but there is usually present the substance of the actual image.
