"O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, thou that killest the
prophets, and stonest them which are sent unto thee, how often would I have
gathered thy children together, even as a hen gathereth her chickens under her
wings, and ye would not! Behold, your house is left unto you desolate."
Matthew 23:37-38
"Then cometh Jesus with them unto a place called Gethsemane, and saith
unto the disciples, Sit ye here, while I go and pray yonder. … And he went a
little further, and fell on his face, and prayed, saying, O my Father, if it be
possible, let this cup pass from me: nevertheless not as I will, but as thou
wilt."

"And while he yet spake, lo, Judas, one of the twelve, came, and with
him a great multitude with swords and staves, from the chief priests and elders

said, Hail, master; and kissed him."

gathered unto him the whole band of soldiers. And they stripped him, and put on
him a scarlet robe. And when they had platted a crown of thorns, they put it
upon his head, and a reed in his right hand: and they bowed the knee before him,
and mocked him, saying, Hail, King of the Jews! And they spit upon him, and took
the reed, and smote him on the head. And after that they had mocked him, they
took the robe off from him, and put his own raiment on him, and led him away to
crucify him."
Matthew 27:27-31

"Then Judas, which had betrayed him, when he saw that he was condemned,
repented himself, and brought again the thirty pieces of silver to the chief
priests and elders, Saying, I have sinned in that I have betrayed the innocent
blood. And they said, What is that to us? see thou to that. And he cast down the
pieces of silver in the temple, and departed, and went and hanged himself. And
the chief priests took the silver pieces, and said, It is not lawful for to put
them into the treasury, because it is the price of blood. And they took counsel,
and bought with them the potter’s field, to bury strangers in. Wherefore that
field was called, The field of blood, unto this day."
Matthew 27:3-8
"And it was about the sixth hour, and there was a darkness over all the
earth until the ninth hour. And the sun was darkened, and the veil of the temple

Father, into thy hands I commend my spirit: and having said thus, he gave up the
ghost."
"When the even was come, there came a rich man of Arimathaea, named
Joseph, who also himself was Jesus’ disciple: He went to Pilate, and begged
the body of Jesus. Then Pilate commanded the body to be delivered. And when

his own new tomb, which he had hewn out in the rock: and he rolled a great stone
to the door of the sepulchre, and departed."
Matthew 27:57-60
"Now upon the first day of the week, very early in the morning, they
came unto the sepulchre. … And they found the stone rolled away from the
sepulchre. And they entered in, and found not the body of the Lord Jesus. And it
came to pass, as they were much perplexed thereabout, behold, two men stood by
them in shining garments: And as they were afraid, and bowed down their faces to
the earth, they said unto them, Why seek ye the living among the dead? He is not
here, but is risen: remember how he spake unto you when he was yet in Galilee.
…"
"And he led them out as far as to Bethany, and he lifted up his hands,
and blessed them. And it came to pass, while he blessed them, he was parted from

"I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he
were dead, yet shall he live: And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall
never die. Believest thou this?"
