This
is Utah’s centennial year, celebrating a long journey to statehood that began
with the creak of a wagon wheel and courageous pioneer spirit. This is the same spirit that guides you,
the motor carrier industry of today. |

In
Utah’s 100 year adventure since statehood, motor carriers have seen a
transformation from primitive relics to modern transportation masterpieces. |
|
FACTORIES, STORES, COMMODITIES |
|
During
this growth, the industry has forged vital links in the chain of distribution
and commerce. So that now, almost
everything we wear, eat, use or buy,
has been transported by a truck. |
|

the best of Utah to the world. And so
tonight we want to express our deepest gratitude and respect, and shine the

No
one understood the broad expanse of this great country better than the
pioneers who walked across it. And
today, no one understands the vast scale of our nation better than the men
and women of the transportation industry. |
|
OLD UTAH PHOTOS, SLC SKYLINE, OLD TRUCKS |
|
Carved
from a stark wilderness, Utah has made the journey from a struggling
sanctuary to become a beacon to the world.
This achievement is due, in a large part, to the pioneers of the
transporation industry. |
|
TRUCKS IN BIG CITIES AND ON FREEWAYS, LARGE CITIES |
|
A
thriving transportation industry is the lifeblood of our national
economy. Without the ceaseless flow of
traffic across our network of interstates, our great cities would be isolated
hamlets, and our small towns starved for food and medicine. |
|
TRUCKS ON FREEWAYS |
|
The
motor carrier industry knits the far-flung states, cities and towns of this
sprawling continent into a unified whole,
and brings us all together and makes us one. |
|
SINGLE FACES AND GROUPS |
|
Whether
you are an owner, manager, driver, dispatcher, legislator, or highway
patrolman, you have helped bring the world to our doorstep. And tonight we celebrate you, the members
of the motor carrier industry. |
